We were delighted to be asked to work with Nottingham Trent University (NTU) on a major new video project to create 50 course videos for their Virtual Open Day.
A meeting was planned. Lunch was arranged. Then the whole country went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis. And the project became more important than ever.
We were challenged to use our audio expertise to capture academics from all kinds of fields talking about their courses in just a few weeks. So, we set up an online booking system to prevent double-booking and toing and froing. We tested how to record the best audio at people’s home from our own home studio. And we got our branded Zoom backgrounds ready for the many calls we were about to make.
Focusing on the original open day date, we set about talking to academics, asking the right questions and keeping everything on track. We edited their answers down, added some good music and supplied the University with the quality audio they needed to create short videos for all kinds of courses.
We played a big part in helping to provide students and the parents/carers with the best possible open day experience in the comfort of their own homes. Students could either watch the videos on the open day site or the individual course pages. The subjects were brought to life by the teachers who taught them.
But we didn’t stop there!
NTU asked us to record the audio for eight more videos and fully create six videos for some of the Foundation Degrees they were set to deliver to the local community in Mansfield through their partnership with Vision West Nottinghamshire College. These 2-year courses in Mansfield are geared towards the local job market and act as gateways to further study.
The subjects included Business, Computing, Criminal Justice, Education, Health & Social Care, Sports & Exercise Science, Ambulance Technician and Working with Children, Young People & Families. We also created a video to promote their Nursing degree as the first year would be taught on the University’s main campus, but then potentially move on to the Mansfield campus in the second year.
With new courses, new course leads, no existing students, very little campus image and social distancing in place – we had to get creative and use a lot of imagination. Thanks to our audio experts, the recordings went smoothly as before. And through a mix of stock and University imagery and video, we produced videos with plenty of energy and information in their vibrant brand style. All from brief to delivery in just three weeks.
