Helping Students find the right path

    UCAS

    Schools Packs

We worked with UCAS to inspire thousands of young people to explore their choices. Together, we created schools packs for teachers and careers advisers to help them support students take the next step.

    Brief

UCAS asked us to help them better connect with busy teachers and careers advisers at 8,000+ schools and colleges across the UK by creating a stand out direct mail piece that would get noticed, and more importantly – opened. So, we packed it full of interesting, engaging and valuable content that careers advisers could use to support their students. Our approach also aimed to flip the perceptions of UCAS from being seen as a ‘form’ or a ‘process’ to the go-to place for young people to discover all about their future options from degrees to apprenticeships to careers.

    Solution

We worked with UCAS to write and design user-friendly school packs for 2022 and 2023 that were bursting with tools, guidance and information about different resources and the UCAS Hub. They were colourfully branded with simple messaging, so teachers and careers advisers could help their students make important choices about their future. Over the last couple of years, the packs have contained posters, maps, year plans, Mission Cards for UCAS/Discovery events and Lesson Plans for teachers to inspire their students to think about all kinds of future possibilities. They also contained links to downloadable content to cut back on paper.

    Results

The figures from 2022 show that the schools pack was a big success. Adviser sign-ups to ucas.com/advisers increased by 30% compared to 2021 and page views grew by 445% attracting 83,227 visitors. More careers advisers and students now see the UCAS Hub as a one-stop-shop of careers information. Most importantly of all, we’ve provided schools with a valuable resource and helped thousands of young students to make key decisions about their future.

“Working with Waterfall is an absolute pleasure. They think of things without us even having to ask, going above and beyond every time.”
