We thrust five academics from the University of Surrey into the spotlight to promote some of the fascinating things students could study on their courses.
Academics are superstars in their subject areas. They are at the forefront of future thinking. And they are inspiring people who students really want to learn from. So, we showcased five of the University of Surrey’s thought leaders to inspire more students to choose their courses.
We started by creating a bold name and distinctive brand. As we were marketing courses for the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences – FASSinate was born.
We then worked closely with the academics to craft and hone down what fascinating things they wanted to say in under 60 seconds. We wanted students to look at traditional courses such as law, politics and tourism through fresh eyes. So, we focused on the academics’ areas of expertise and fascinating topics that would shape the future of these subjects from laws for robots and tomorrow’s war machines to sustainable tourism, hubris and Brexit.
We arranged to film the academics in the University’s own green screen studio. This enabled us to put relevant video clips behind them as they talked to inspire viewers and grab people’s attention.
This series of truly thought-provoking and fascinating academic videos has raised the profile of some of the Faculty’s different subjects and attracted nearly 250,000 views on YouTube.
